[REVIEW] Tony Moly Pocket Bunny Moist + Sleek Mist

Moist Mist + Sleek Mist : LOOK AT THEIR LITTLE FACES

What Tony Moly say:

Moist Mist (Pink Bunny) “Enjoy an instant spritz of skin-balancing moisture with this facial mist, formulated especially for oily and combination skin. Just spray and go for a fresh, balanced, beautiful finish!”

Sleek Mist (White Bunny) “Soften skin and keep shine in check with this adorable and refreshing toner that spritzes on as a delicate mist with a lightly citrus scent. Formulated with citrus fruit extracts to curb oil production
and peach, apple, and raspberry extracts to moisturize. Great for oily and combination skin types. “

OKAY so this whole time- until I read the proper description of it, I thought the sleek mist was a makeup setting spray instead of a toner… well the more you know. ANYWAY, of course I got these two products (which came as 1 set) because of the cute packaging… I mean seriously, how on earth can you resist. What the store assistant at Tony Moly told me was that the moist mist is a liquid moisturiser that you spray onto your face before makeup in the place of a moisturiser. The sleek mist on the other hand is for after the completion of your makeup.. which she was obviously wrong... because it's a toner HAHA.  BUT what I can say is that the Sleek Mist in actuality works beautifully as a makeup setting spray and I’ve used it so much that I've ran out of a bottle and have gone back to buy another one. Which if you knew me, my hoarding tendencies pretty much means that I never get to finish a product so when I do- that product is the shizzle.

My review for the Moist Mist is basically… get it if you like the packaging and you like the novelty of spraying your face with stuff. Otherwise as a moisturiser it’s nothing spectacular. It’s too light to really do anything if you have particularly dry skin but it’s a nice thing to carry around if your skin goes dry during the day. Totally would make for a conversation starter to pull out a super cute pink bunny and start spraying your face with it.

Feel on the face :  8/10 (Moist Mist) 10/10 (Sleek Mist)
Effectiveness: 4/10 (Moist Mist) 9/10 (Sleek Mist)
Packaging: 10/10 (Moist Mist) 10/10 (Sleek Mist)

Rating:  6/10 (Moist Mist) 9/10 (Sleek Mist)
Would buy again? No for Moist Mist and already have for Sleek Mist

Price: $15 for both at the Tony Moly store (If you live in Sydney- there’s one in Market City) or maybe try your luck in Morning Glory

NOTE: After searching on ebay/ online I think Tony Moly has changed the packaging of the original bunnies and they no longer sell these ones anymore… on eBay these original ones go for like $30… I don’t even know anymore. If you wanna get this product, and to the future me that wants to buy the sleek mist again.. hopefully the new ones are still as effective and … good luck.

[REVIEW] YSL Babydoll Kiss & Blush in #05 & #12

Saturday, 23 April 2016

#12 Mocha Garconne & #5 Rouge Effrontee

What YSL says:

“Kiss your cheeks. Blush your lips. Play with color and mix and match your lips and cheeks. Yves Saint Laurent introduces the latest innovation in the edgy Baby Doll attitude. This 2 in 1 ultra blendable air whipped mousse beautifully highlights your lips and cheeks with a sensual soft matte finish.”

#05 in Rouge Effrontee (How lovely is the name tho guys) Just a slight dab in the centre of the lips
Slowly building it up
Full coverage #05

What drew me to YSL at first is their incomparable packaging. What kept me coming back for more is their attention to detail and products that make you feel pampered and luxurious. I received my first babydoll product as a birthday present, it was a bright pink in number 5. At first I was a little worried this pink will be too bright and in your face to wear on a day to day basis but my worries were unfounded.

The colour can easily be changed to how strong you want it. For a day look, dab a little product on the centre of your lips and then smear it out to give yourself that “korean gradient look”. For full coverage lips simple use the applicator and apply the product everywhere on the lip.

I really really love the smell and application of this product. It smells fruity- a mix between watermelon and mango and it feels like velvet. It’s so easily blendable but the one thing to note would be that it wouldn’t cover up a chapped lip- so be sure to keep your lips in top shape when you use this product. (For the colour 05)

#12 in Mocha Garconne

Fav fav fav nude everrrr

My favourite nude ever has to be the number 12 babydoll. It glides on amazingly smoothly and just DOES something I can’t even explain. Unlike the #05, this one covers a chapped lip pretty well and is very very moisturising and smooth.

[SWATCH] OPI: What's With the Cattitude

Wednesday, 20 April 2016

One of my nail polish weaknesses is baby blue, which more often than not, is limited edition. Besides having the ability to deflate my bank account, it also looks fabulous on my slightly yellow-based skin and looks more special than your typical reds and pinks. This pretty polish comes from an old summer release, the Shrek Collection. Out of the polishes released in that collection, What's With the Cattitude is probably the hardest to get your paws on. It look me a year of searching and more money than I would like to admit to get my very own bottle. Naturally, my expectations were high...

Cost - $$$

ALL PHOTOS HAVE:
  • Innisfree - Eco Base Coat
  • OPI - 4 coats of What's With the Cattitude
  • 3CE Nail Lacquer - Top Coat

Application

I'm a fan of OPI's ProWide brush, which allows for a pain-free and easy application. The polish went on smoothly, and the formula wasn't too thick or runny. It sort of slides downhill from there though, much to my disappointment. First coat was very streaky, but that's a usual phenomenon with lighter colours like WWTC. So I continued on for another THREE coats. Yup, the photos have FOUR painful, streaky, messy coats. Each layer came out patchy and I only stopped because four coats but it did look decent to the untrained eye. If you're planning on tackling this polish, I recommend THIN coats and let them dry in between.

Colour + Finish

WWTC is a beautiful sky blue creme that absolutely lives up to my expectations. The four coats were almost worth it. It compliments olive/yellow-based skin tones very well, but would match other skin types as well. It's more saturated than the soft, pastels that are synonymous with bridal collections, but it's not intensely bold and bright either. It's a very cheerful colour that could be a nice change to the normal office palette. I'd recommend a layer of top coat to hide the patchiness a little more. It's a great colour all year round, and reminds me of those beautiful summer days with cloudless blue skies.

Longevity + Removal

Polishes last very well on me, and I only had slight tip wear on the fourth day with WWTC. It would probably last longer if you have a top coat with hardening properties to offset the number of coats used. Removal was also a breeze without any staining.

[SWATCH] 3CE Nail Lacquer: PE01

Wednesday, 13 April 2016

Who can resist a lovely, girly pink polish? I had always been curious about 3CE nail polishes, especially since their make-up line is so widely raved about. However, living in Sydney means that access to a reasonable range of their polishes is fairly limited. I was lucky enough to stumble on a huge range of 3CE polishes in a store whilst visiting Hong Kong. I only managed to select out two polishes before being kicked out of the store because the shop was about to close. PE01 caught my eye because it was just that pretty, and I justified to myself that I did not have anything like it in my collection.

Cost - I bought this for ~AUD4

ALL PHOTOS HAVE:
  • Orly - Bonder
  • OPI - 2 coats of PE01
  • 3CE - Top Coat

Application

This is a classic case of never judge a book by its cover. This is actually the second time I've worn this polish, because the first time resulted in the vigorous removal of the unsightly, lumpy manicure. First, the formula looks as though it was going to be a dream to apply but once it touches the nail, it becomes unpredictable. I don't know what sort of voodoo magic was at work, but it was streaky, lumpy and failed to self-level. I could only make it work if I used a super light and steady hand. Needless to say that my right hand was kinda atrocious. Second, the brush looked like a wild animal had attacked it, with some of the bristles sticking out at odd angles. It makes me believe that I could have potentially just gotten a faulty product, and that the polish isn't supposed to be that terrible.

Colour + Finish

The creatively named PE01 is a feminine peachy pink with a silver micro-glitter running through it. It tends toward a cooler tone, and I would regard it as a generally flattering colour on most skin tones. I actually really love the colour, despite the appalling application process. It's just so girly and the silver adds an extra dimension to an otherwise overdone colour. I have nothing like it in my collection, but I'm tentative about keeping it there. For the work-space conscious girls (or boys :D ), it's definitely an office-safe colour.

That shimmer right there. :D

Removal

Removing this polish took a bit more elbow grease than I imagined it would. It wasn't the glitter that was the issues though, I suspect that the formula of the polish was the culprit. This polish doesn't stain or leave my fingers covered in glitter.

[REVIEW] BBIA pigments in 09 Rose Diamond

Saturday, 9 April 2016

bbi@ in 09 - Rose Diamond

What Bbi@ says:
Rose Diamond… Shh….Copycats will be asking you about this one! "

With eyeliner applied

I'm honestly in love with these little pigment pots from bbia... the glitter is just right for that extra sparkle sparkle to brighten up a dull day- but never overbearing or too flashy. I've taken to dabbing a tiny amount of these glitters on my lids after normal eyeshadow applications to give my look that final touch and seriously in want of purchasing the whole series... but one shan't be too greedy now.

Application: 7/10 (The glitter can fall everywhere when applying)
Lasting: 9/10 (Still sparkly by the end of the day)
Pigmentation: 7/10 Rose Diamond isn't very pigmented- tiny amounts of pinkish red with a whole lot of sparkle

Rating: 8.5/10

[SWATCH] China Glaze: Smoke and Ashes

Wednesday, 6 April 2016

I can never resist a good glitter, especially the ones that promise crazy, beautiful and colour-shifting goodness like Smoke and Ashes. This is from the Hunger Games collection from a few years back, but I never paid much attention to this collection until I saw this baby in the bottle. I've been trying to give more love to other nail polish brands lately because my collection is so heavily dominated by OPI. I figured that diversity is never a bad thing.

Cost - I bought mine for about $5

ALL PHOTOS HAVE:
  • Orly - Bonder
  • China Glaze - 2 coats of Smoke and Ashes
  • 3CE Nail Lacquer - Top Coat

Application

This polish was an absolute breeze to apply, and if you were super careful and applied a thicker coat, you could probably get away with one coat. I went with two coats cause I'm anal retentive and patchiness gives me anxiety. The China Glaze brush is thin and flexible, allowing for very precise application. Literally have no complaints about the way this applied. Thumbs up all the way!

Colour + Finish

Smoke and Ashes is incredible amalgamation of green to blue shifting glitter flecks suspended in a complementary dark base ... in the bottle. On the nail, it kind of falls flat on its face. The almost-black base colour swallows the glitter and only gives it a tiny window of opportunity to shine. I'd literally have to stick my hands in direct sunlight and wiggle my fingers back and forth to properly admire the colour at its zenith. You can still see hints of the glitter in indirect sunlight, but it's just so much more disappointing than I expected. Although, it is prettier in person than it photographs.

Longevity + Removal

As with most nail polishes on me, the lasting power isn't particularly remarkable. Nail polish tends to last about a week before I feel the need to change it (if I hadn't already) and this one did not deviate from the norm. There was very minor tip wear on day two, which gradually progressed but not to an anxiety-inducing extent.

Removal was not as painful as I expected it to be despite the glitter factor. HOWEVER, you should note that your fingers will most probably be plastered with the same glitter that was on your nail post-removal, which may or may not be a good thing depending on how much you wanna be a unicorn.
